Introduction to Treatment Areas

When patients receive eye care, they expect that they will have an eye health assessment, be tested for 20/20 vision and given prescription lenses if needed. However, even those with healthy eyes and good eye sight can have other vision problems that affect performance at school, at work or in sports.

At Dr.Moussa's  Vision Therapy our patients are provided an expanded diagnostic assessment of eye teaming (binocular vision), eye movement control (oculomotor function) and eye focusing abilities (accommodation). Plus, the Doctor may evaluate visual information processing and perceptual-motor skills. When a problem is identified in any of these areas Wow Vision Therapy provides excellence in office-based treatment programs.

Office-based vision therapy is not eye exercises. Office-based vision therapy is an accelerated development of the visual system through a carefully designed therapy provided to each patient on a one-to-one basis by a doctor supervised vision therapist. The Wow Vision Therapy experience involves the most productive vision therapy methods incorporating a blend of visual therapeutic challenge, compassion and fun.

Dr. Moussa's treatment programs are individually tailored to the patient′s personal goals and their area of treatment. The treatment areas are typically found in the following: vision and learning, lazy eye (amblyopia), crossed or turned eyes (strabismus), acquired brain injury, headaches from vision stress, tired eyes in the workplace, sports vision and special needs children (ASD, PDD, ADHD).

Lazy Eye (Amblyopia)

Amblyopia is a condition where there is a loss of vision that cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses alone. However, studies show that active vision therapy can successfully rehabilitate amblyopia at any age.

Cross or Turned Eyes

Strabismus is a condition in which a person is unable to properly align their eyes. Cosmetic surgery sometimes can be performed to align the eyes more closely. But through vision therapy, prisms and prescription lenses, the condition can often be fully corrected.

Special Needs Children

Vision development is often delayed in children on the autism spectrum or with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), cerebral palsy and attention deficit disorder (ADD). Vision therapy helps children build their visually integrated sensory skills for better learning and function in day-to-day living.

 Headaches From Visual Stress

Tension headaches while reading and/or doing desk work may not be from physical stress. Instead, they may be caused by tired, strained eyes which can be treated successfully with vision therapy.

 Acquired Brain Injury

Double vision, vertigo, headaches, blurred vision, eye strain, visual confusion, visual field loss, etc. can result after head trauma or a neurological event. Vision therapy combined with co-managed rehabilitation can improve function.

Tired Eyes In The Workplace

Many patients with 20/20 eyesight and healthy eyes can experience blurred or uncomfortable vision when looking at a computer monitor. These symptoms often result from faulty eye teaming and focusing skills. Vision therapy, along with prescription computer lenses, is an effective treatment for these problems.

 Sports Vision

Whether you are  a weekend athlete or serious professional, vision therapy can give you a competitive edge improving hand-eye coordination, depth perception, visual tracking and reaction time.
